Do you offer individual leases & co-living?
No, our leases are joint leases.
Is renter's insurance required?
Yes, renter's insurance is required. Resident Liability insurance is also required; you must show proof of resident liability insurance to our third-party company to be opted out.
Can the apartment be sublet or listed on short-term rental platforms like AirBnB or VRBO?
Tenants are allowed to sublet their apartment.
Are utilities included?
Utilities are not included. Studios are responsible for paying for electricity, all other floorplans at West Towne are responsible for paying for electricity and water. Residents must have utilities in their name through the City of Ames.
Can I request a specific apartment & can an apartment be held?
You may put a preference down, but it is not guaranteed. An apartment cannot be held.
Is there a security deposit and is any of it refundable?
The security deposit is $500.00, it is refundable at the end of the lease term depending on the condition of the unit.
What leasing options are available?
We offer 12-month leases, and have limited availability for short-term leases for our studios at West Towne.
Do you accept Section 8 vouchers?
We do not accept Section 8 vouchers.
What are the hours of the clubhouse?
The clubhouse is open Mon-Fri 8am-5pm. Residents must have a clubhouse card to access after-hours.
What are the hours for the fitness center?
Residents receive a free gym membership to Ames Fitness Center. The West gym is open 24/7, you will need a fob to get access to the West gym.
What are the hours for the business center?
Our office is open Mon-Fri 8am-5pm, and Saturday by appointment only.
Do you offer valet trash service and/or recycling?
We do not offer valet trash or recycling services.
How do I get my packages/do you have package lockers?
No package lockers. Delivery drivers drop them off in the mail room or typically at their door.
Are apartments internet/cable ready? Is there a separate charge? How do I set it up?
Internet is provided, tenant needs to bring router. We do not offer cable.
Is the community pet friendly?
Yes, we have a 2 pet limit.
What is the smoking policy?
Smoking of any kind is prohibited inside the unit/building.
What is the parking situation?
We offer open and unassigned parking to you and your guests.
What schools are in the area?
ISU, Ames Middle School, Ames High School, Edwards Elementary, Sawyer Elementary School.
Are you near any transportation routes? Which ones?
There is a Cy-Ride bus stop conveniently located right along Mortensen Road.
Are the apartments furnished?
All of our units come unfurnished.
Do the apartments have air conditioning?
Yes, all apartments have an air conditioning system.
Do kitchen sinks have a garbage disposal?
Yes, apartments come with a garbage disposal.
Do apartments have dishwashers?
Yes, apartments come with a dishwasher.
Does the apartment come with a microwave?
Yes, all apartments come with a microwave.
Is there laundry on-site?
Yes, all apartments include a washer and dryer.
